TUTUMU AND THE GIANT
Once upon  a  time,  there  lived  in  a  little  hut  in  the  forest  a  little  girl  named Tu-tu-mu  and  her
mother. They lived by selling herbs as medicine. Everyday, her mother went to the market nearest village
outside the forest. They earn very little from selling the herbs. But, everyday they should make a big pot
of sweet porridge that will be given to the giant who always come to their house. They have to make it,
otherwise they will be eaten by the giant.

One day, Tu-tu-mu’s mother was not able  to  sell all her goods, and because  they have  to make
porridge  for  the  giant,  they  suffered  from  hunger. When  her  mother  cooked  the  porridge.  Tu-tu-mu
could’t  resist  the  temptation  of  the  porridge’s  smell.  And  when  her  mother  gone,  she  ate  it.  “  it’s
impossible that uncle giant will notice  if I take just on spoonful”, she said. Knowing the porridge was so
delicious, she forgot everything and ate until she was satisfied. When she remembered. The pot was not
full to the brim any more.
Then, there was a sound aloud thumping from afar. Boom-boom-boom! There the giant came. As
usual the pot was put on the doorstep. When he saw the pot was not full to the brim as usual, he became
terribly angry. “who has eaten some of my porridge? Tu-tu-mu, where are you?” when he found her, he
threw her  into his wide open mounth and with one gulp,  tu-tu-mu disappeared calling her mother. Then
she remembered the sharp pointed hairpin she wore. And using that, she stabbed the giant. This hurt the
giant so much  that  the raced  into  the forest. Not  looking where he was going, he  tripped over a big root
and bang, fell on the ground. His head struck a big stone and died.
